Executive Director – Marsha Nelson-Duncan

Marsha brings a unique combination of education and experience to the position. She graduated from Frederick Community College with a dual-degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She then went on to St. Mary’s College of Maryland where she again graduated with dual-degrees, this time in Political Science and Public Policy.

Marsha has worked as a front line staff person in both Juvenile Justice and Mental Health residential programs. She has also spent time as a teacher for at-risk youth. She has also been a foster parent for youth from DJS (Department of Juvenile Justice), DSS (Department of Social Services) and Frederick County Mental Health.

This front line experience combines with her experience as an administrator. She was the Associate Director of School Age Child Care for the YMCA of Frederick. At this position she was responsible for the licensing, training, and staffing of 22 child care sites throughout Frederick county with over 100 staff and 700 children. She also was the President of Duncan Therapeutic Services and handled administrative duties, including licensing, for their Psychiatric Rehabilitation program.

Marsha also has experience as a fundraiser. She was the Executive Director for the Western Maryland region of the Arthritis Foundation. This unique combination of educational background and work experience makes her the ideal Executive Director for an organization of this type.
